Star #SupaComic 2018 Day One, 29 December 2018 (Edited: 31/12, 1037 Hrs)

Entrance to the event.

Year 2018 is about to wrap up, making way for year 2019. After last week's Comic Fiesta, this blog post will also be my final for 2018. It's #SupaComic 2018, hosted by Malaysia's English language newspaper company, The Star. While this is also a two-day event similar to Comic Fiesta, I went there on Day One only.

Comic Fiesta 2018 Day One, 22 December 2018 (Edited: 11/01/2019, 0146 Hrs)

Before I begin, I would like to express my condolences to the families of tsunami victims in Indonesia, which happened just recently.

It's almost the end of December, and Comic Fiesta is back again. In this new blog post, I am, once again, going to show my visit to Comic Fiesta on Day One. As an Anime otaku, I love ACG events, and I would almost always buy Early Bird tickets to the event, particularly Comic Fiesta. Also, just like in 2015, I once again cosplay as Conny Springer from Shingeki no Kyojin; And, as usual, avoiding myself from having my photos taken (some might do it secretly!). This post is also my first Comic Fiesta blog post with watermarked photos and all the photos taken have its dimensions reduced to 1500x1000.

Photography On A 10-year Old Camera: Canon EOS 450D (Updated: 16/12/2018)

As a Sony RX100 user, I loved its image quality. However, the Sony RX100 has no viewfinder, which is one of the features I personally love (and need) on DSLRs and on some MIL (mirrorless interchangeable lens) cameras.

And so, back on 28th November, my aunt gave me one of her DSLR cameras she used: the Canon EOS 450D. It is a 10-year old DSLR camera using Canon's 12.2 megapixel, 1.6x crop factor APS-C sensor.

ENCO AMUZE A10 USB Stereo Speaker, Personal Review (Updated: 04/12/2018)

ENCO Amuze A10 Multimedia Speaker's box art, shown here is the Light Wood colour. There is a similar box art on the other side of the box, showing Deep Wood colour.

I have been looking for a new set of speakers to replace my old desktop computer speaker I used for my 24 inch Toshiba LED TV, as the TV's speakers are of mediocre audio quality. Not only that, the desktop speakers, while it has good audio quality, have no volume control knob. To make matters worse, audio coming out from the TV's RCA output is of full blast and cannot be controlled by the TV at all!

And so, on Tuesday, 27 November, as of the time this post started, I am reviewing this new set of speakers which I ordered on 25th November. It is the ENCO Amuze A10, a USB-powered multimedia speaker with a volume adjustment dial. I bought this online through Shopee, at the price of RM 25 (excluding shipping fee). This speaker comes in two different wood-inspired colour schemes: Light Wood and Deep Wood.

Penang Trip: ETS Ride, 23/10/2018

Penang Island from afar. Taken from the ferry.

Penang has been my frequent holiday destination for many years. Almost all the time, I would go there by car. However, there is one mode of transportation I've been hoping to try since childhood: trains. As I love trains, I was hoping that I would go to Penang by train, but have not done so, until now.

And so, back in 23rd October, both me and my mother went for a five-day holiday at Penang Island, where we took the ETS (Electric Train Service) by KTMB to our holiday destination. This is my first ever train ride to Penang, and also the first ETS ride for both of us.

Random Rant: Referrer Spam

Referrer Spam. This is one of the main reasons, apart from writer's block, why I sometimes set my blog to Private. While I am okay with the increasing number of page views from visitors, I am highly annoyed by referrer spam. What's worse, some of these links are porn sites!

Normally I would ignore it, but there are times I would investigate the origins of the said traffic, which would show rather alarming results.

Recently, I discovered unusual traffic and also discovered a web link where the traffic originated from. So, I made a search on Google Search and found out that it was a pornographic website, much to my surprise.

I looked up on Google Search again about this, and found out what was called a 'Ghost Referrer Spam' (click here). Although the article is describing Google Analytics which I didn't use, it was a rather surprising discovery for me.

As I didn't use Google Analytics, the best solution for me right now is to ignore it.

KEWPIE Goma-ae (Spinach with Kewpie Roasted Sesame Dressing)

In this new blog post, I'm going to show how to make Spinach Goma-ae (also spelled 'Gomaae' or 'Gomae'), a Japanese vegetable dish with sesame dressing. However, the difference between the original recipe and mine is the simplicity and improvisation of it.

My Favourite Anime Songs For Driving (Updated: 12/01/2020)

As I loved driving, there are times that I would often listen to music while driving much like Ansel Elgort's character did in the movie Baby Driver (my car's radio is dead and has no USB input). Not only that, as I was also an Anime otaku, most of the songs I would listen to while driving are soundtracks from Anime shows. And so, below are my select Anime songs I would listen to when driving and could possibly recommend. All sources below are from YouTube:

Yesterday, I decided to go for another 'Jalan-Jalan' at KL, as GAX 2018 was being held at Berjaya Times Square. I left Bangi at 10:27 a.m. for KL Sentral station and immediately took the monorail to Imbi station.

At The Ramadan Bazaar For The Last Time

Today, 13th of June is also the 28th day of Ramadan, where it is coming to an end soon and the month of Syawal is coming in about two days. And so, I decided to go to the Ramadan Bazaar for the last time before I celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Ramadan Break: At The Bazaar

It has been two weeks since I stopped writing. As the title says, I would always stop writing during Ramadan for a fasting month break. Not only that, I am currently testing new themes for my blog and trying to find one that is suitable. And so, in this new blog post, it's all about my visit to the Ramadan Bazaar at my area yesterday evening, buying what I need for Buka Puasa (Iftar).

The Origins of 'RemainUnknown522' and My Side of Story (Updated: 19/01/2019)

No, this is not an Internet country code for Russia. This is how my pseudonym spelled out as an acronym.
Everyone has its own beginnings and origins. Even I have my own. And so, here's my story on how I started blogging, how I got the pseudonym RemainUnknown522, and how the 'battered NEET blogger' nickname was born. Not only that, this writing is all about my side of story, which includes my interests and hobbies.

In other words, it's time for me to come clean about myself.

Outside Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, at the entrance to TAGCC 2018.

TAGCC 2018 event guidebook.
In this new blog post, it's all about my visit to TAGCC 2018, held at Mid Valley Convention Centre. As I have bought the early bird tickets, I can simply go inside the event hall via the Early Bird queue.

This blog post will also be updated at random intervals, also possibly, after Day Two of TAGCC 2018. I am now in need of a rest as I am currently recovering from a cold.

Recommendation: LeckerEis Premium Ice-Cream, Bandar Seri Putra, Bangi

If you live or have visited Bandar Seri Putra and love ice-cream, I suggest going to the pasar malam every Tuesday and Saturday and pay a visit to this ice-cream stall. It is called LeckerEis (means 'yummy ice-cream' in German), owned by a Malay lady and her German husband. Here, they sell tasty home made gelato and sorbet. It is priced at RM5 for a cup containing three scoops of either gelato or sorbet, and you can mix three different flavours.

Trying Out KFC's Zinger Cheezilla Burger (2018)

(NOTE: THIS ARTICLE WAS WRITTEN AND PUBLISHED IN 2018)

It has been a while since I last went to KFC for a meal. Recently, KFC Malaysia launched a new burger called the Zinger Cheezilla, which is essentially a Zinger burger with an additional Mozzarella cheese patty. And so, I went to a KFC restaurant in my area and bought one combo set, priced at RM 16.90.

'Jalan-Jalan' Tuesday, 20/03/2018: Rice Bowl, Ice-Cream and Ramune

Waiting for the Komuter train to arrive.
As my mother went for a holiday trip with my sister for five days, I was by myself at home. So, I decided to go for a trip on my own. On that day, I went to Mid Valley Megamall first, then to Sungei Wang Plaza and Berjaya Times Square before going home; Although it was not a shopping spree, but a simple 'Jalan-Jalan'.

Wasting One's Time

Wasting One's Time. This is what I highly disliked and also what I frequently see whenever I go out of my house to run errands or picking up my niece from her kindergarten. Everywhere, there are these certain group of people who enjoy wasting their time to the point of making other people angry.

And so, below are the three places I encounter with these annoying slow-pokes:

Random Rant: Witness A Robbery, Bash The Jobless

As the title says, whenever someone witnessed a robbery or theft, whether it's right in front of their eyes or watching videos, photos or news articles of it from their gadgets, they would often resort to unemployment bashing. I can still remember on one news article posted on Facebook about a snatch theft that resulted in the victim's death, one netizen's response is by typing the following sentence: 'too lazy to work'.

Seriously, why are these netizens so ignorant?

Unemployment Bashing: Just Another Form Of 'Clickbaiting' (Updated: 03/09, 2005 Hrs)

WARNING: PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT THE CONTENTS IN THIS POST WILL OFFEND CERTAIN READERS. IF YOU WISH TO READ, THEN PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. I SHALL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU'RE OFFENDED WITH THIS POST.

This screenshot of a news article from BERNAMA on December last year, shared by The Reporter a.k.a. My Media Hub, is a notorious example of unemployment bashing as a form of Clickbaiting practiced by viral media websites.

Untold Good Deeds: A Young Man, an Old Lady, and a Trolley (Updated: 10/02, 2215 Hrs)

Note: This writing is based on a true story that happened on the month of March, 2017. This is not an urban legend, fairy tale, or some 'Friend Of A Friend' (FOAF) stuff.

CCTV Cameras

1. CCTV Cameras. These cameras are typically installed in shops or outside buildings as a form of crime deterrence. Whoever commits any form of crime in areas with these cameras will have their actions captured on video.

2. Unfortunately, I frequently see CCTV videos of theft and robbery are being misused by the viral media to bash and humiliate the unemployed and jobless as lazy, making it a rather insulting form of clickbaiting practiced by the viral media.

Why Are Good Deeds Of The Unemployed Never Go Viral? (Updated: 10/02, 2155 Hrs)

This image, courtesy of SiakapKeli (original post here), shows a viral post in 2015 about a medical assistant helping an elderly woman.

Whenever I read viral news on the internet about someone doing a good deed, it will always be someone with a job (example: civil servants); So far, in Malaysia, at least, I have yet to see anyone viralling a good deed by an unemployed person.

Cold Weather

Today is almost five days since the weather outside was colder than the usual. It all started due to the non-stop rain for nearly two days, starting between Wednesday to Thursday, if I remember correctly. I can still remember that the temperature at Bangi dropped to 22°c at night due to the rain and cloudy skies for the whole day, and yesterday was no different, the highest temperature was at 27°c instead of the usual 32-35°c.

Normally, the weather is only cold here at night when it was either cloudy or raining during the evening. However, this time, it feels like I'm visiting a cold climate country (example: Japan), neccessitating me to wear a hoodie during the day, for two days! Even the tap water is really cold!

It's only a matter of time when it will all go back to normal.
