SONY VAIO SVE14A15FGS, THREE YEARS HISTORY

After three years of using the Sony VAIO SVE14A15FGS, here is my usage history of the laptop:

  • 2nd October 2012: Bought at Sony Centre, Low Yat Plaza, Kuala Lumpur.
  • June - September 2013: Right side hinge broke, damage repaired.
  • 3rd - 5th October 2014: Left side hinge broke after more than a year of getting it repaired (conclusion: the hinge is SVE14A15FG's Achilles heel).
  • 8th March 2015: Hard disk failure, data can no longer be accessed. Forgot to make recovery discs!
  • 2nd May 2015: Bought new hard disk and reinstalled Windows 7 and required drivers; original bundled softwares (example: VAIO Gesture Control) cannot be installed as I forgot to make the recovery discs.
  • 11th September 2015 - ongoing: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR caused by atikmpag.sys, causing the Blue Screen of Death to show up. More and more ridiculous errors, including MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, PAGE_FAULT_IN NONPAGED_AREA shows up after several reinstallations of drivers and software. Suspected either corrupt data in HDD (CHKDSK 'found no problems,' but System File Checker did found some corrupt data) or graphics card problem (cleaning / repair required). Uninstalled AMD's Catalyst Control Center, problem temporarily solved; problem reappears as I opened up Internet Explorer (I can't access Maxis Broadband's quota portal in Google Chrome). Disabled AMD Radeon 7670M Graphics should if I need to use the internet.

And that's all there is to write about the laptop's usage history.

VISUAL ARTS EXPO 2015 (VAX) DAY ONE, 22ND AUGUST

Visual Arts Expo 2015 banner, taken upon arrival at MIECC.

After four months of hiatus (not including my latest post here), thanks to writer's block and depression, I'm finally back into writing a new article. This time it's about my visit to Visual Arts Expo 2015 (VAX), held at MINES International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC), located just beside MINES Shopping Fair. My decision to go to Visual Arts Expo 2015 at MIECC is because this year's Comic Fiesta is also going to be held at the same place, so I need to know more about getting there.

And so begins the most boring writing I have ever done, as I am still having a bit of trouble writing due to my health conditions.

SELAMAT HARI MERDEKA KE-58

After more than three months of hiatus, this new post of mine has only one purpose:

I would like to wish a Happy 58th Merdeka Day (Selamat Hari Merdeka ke-58) to all Malaysians.

NEW HARD DISK, BUT INCOMPLETE LAPTOP

Ever since what happened two months ago (click here), I had become too depressed to write anything in this blog. Not only that, next Saturday is my birthday, but it's going to be a very boring day anyway. If only there is someone financially generous enough to make my only birthday wish comes true...

Still, all hope is not lost, as I finally managed to buy a new hard disk for my Sony VAIO SVE14A15FG laptop last Saturday (2nd May).

LAPTOP HARD DISK FAILURE

It has been a while since I last wrote and published an article here in my blog, thanks to writer's block, and also, the death of my father on 23rd February.

Now onto something that is highly catastrophic for any computer users: a hard disk failure.
