Wasting One's Time

Wasting One's Time. This is what I highly disliked and also what I frequently see whenever I go out of my house to run errands or picking up my niece from her kindergarten. Everywhere, there are these certain group of people who enjoy wasting their time to the point of making other people angry.

And so, below are the three places I encounter with these annoying slow-pokes:

ON THE ROAD

There are a number of dilly-dallying drivers who enjoy wasting their time on the road. There's the usual lane hogs who hog the overtaking lane, and there are also drivers who waste their time at a traffic light junction, either by waiting too long when traffic light is green (sometimes to the point of the light turning yellow and red!), or by refusing to move altogether.

I still remember back in 2015, when I encountered this driver who is wasting time talking to a front passenger when the lights are already green and TOTALLY IGNORING THE INCESSANT HONKING BEHIND IT!

Can you imagine that? You're stuck at a traffic light behind a stupid driver who doesn't seem to care whether the traffic light is green?

DURING SHOPPING

This is also what annoyed me whenever I go shopping at either a supermarket or at the pasar malam. There are these shoppers who waste their time by walking too slow at the pasar malam or supermarket while shopping, seemingly don't know what to buy or choose.

Seriously, what are these people thinking? If they don't know what to buy, why not walk away quickly and come back later instead of wasting time walking at a snail's pace just to make a choice what to buy?!

AT AN ATM OR CDM

Whenever I go to the ATM or CDM at a bank or petrol station, chances are, I would encounter patrons who either waste their time using the ATM or taking too long to take out rejected bank notes from the CDM.

I still remember yesterday, this one patron who is using the CDM at a petrol station, taking too long to take out the rejected bank notes, where the CDM's buzzer is buzzing for almost TEN SECONDS, when normally, it takes three seconds for a CDM user to take out rejected bank notes! Behind that person are a long queue of patrons who are waiting to use the CDM, with me included.

So what did I do next? Angrily leave the petrol station.

THE NOTORIOUS 'BIAR LAMBAT ASAL SELAMAT' MENTALITY

There is this frequently abused Malay saying that goes, 'Biar Lambat Asal Selamat'. The closest English equivalent is 'Better Late Than Never'.

Why did I say frequently abused? It's because these people ALWAYS frequently abuse that said Malay saying!

Honestly, what's the point of 'Biar Lambat Asal Selamat' when it also brings misery to other people?

Take slow drivers on the overtaking lane, for example. They drive slowly and blocking other motorists from overtaking. Whenever these people are confronted, they will always say 'Biar Lambat Asal Selamat'. Yeah, right; driving slowly for the sake of their own safety and selfishness while bringing misery to motorists behind them!

Apparently, this 'Biar Lambat Asal Selamat' mentality is the real reason why they selfishly wasting time, just because they are the only ones who want to be safe!
