Star #SupaComic 2018 Day One, 29 December 2018 (Edited: 31/12, 1037 Hrs)

Entrance to the event.

Year 2018 is about to wrap up, making way for year 2019. After last week's Comic Fiesta, this blog post will also be my final for 2018. It's #SupaComic 2018, hosted by Malaysia's English language newspaper company, The Star. While this is also a two-day event similar to Comic Fiesta, I went there on Day One only.

Comic Fiesta 2018 Day One, 22 December 2018 (Edited: 11/01/2019, 0146 Hrs)

Before I begin, I would like to express my condolences to the families of tsunami victims in Indonesia, which happened just recently.

It's almost the end of December, and Comic Fiesta is back again. In this new blog post, I am, once again, going to show my visit to Comic Fiesta on Day One. As an Anime otaku, I love ACG events, and I would almost always buy Early Bird tickets to the event, particularly Comic Fiesta. Also, just like in 2015, I once again cosplay as Conny Springer from Shingeki no Kyojin; And, as usual, avoiding myself from having my photos taken (some might do it secretly!). This post is also my first Comic Fiesta blog post with watermarked photos and all the photos taken have its dimensions reduced to 1500x1000.

Photography On A 10-year Old Camera: Canon EOS 450D (Updated: 16/12/2018)

As a Sony RX100 user, I loved its image quality. However, the Sony RX100 has no viewfinder, which is one of the features I personally love (and need) on DSLRs and on some MIL (mirrorless interchangeable lens) cameras.

And so, back on 28th November, my aunt gave me one of her DSLR cameras she used: the Canon EOS 450D. It is a 10-year old DSLR camera using Canon's 12.2 megapixel, 1.6x crop factor APS-C sensor.

ENCO AMUZE A10 USB Stereo Speaker, Personal Review (Updated: 04/12/2018)

ENCO Amuze A10 Multimedia Speaker's box art, shown here is the Light Wood colour. There is a similar box art on the other side of the box, showing Deep Wood colour.

I have been looking for a new set of speakers to replace my old desktop computer speaker I used for my 24 inch Toshiba LED TV, as the TV's speakers are of mediocre audio quality. Not only that, the desktop speakers, while it has good audio quality, have no volume control knob. To make matters worse, audio coming out from the TV's RCA output is of full blast and cannot be controlled by the TV at all!

And so, on Tuesday, 27 November, as of the time this post started, I am reviewing this new set of speakers which I ordered on 25th November. It is the ENCO Amuze A10, a USB-powered multimedia speaker with a volume adjustment dial. I bought this online through Shopee, at the price of RM 25 (excluding shipping fee). This speaker comes in two different wood-inspired colour schemes: Light Wood and Deep Wood.

Penang Trip: ETS Ride, 23/10/2018

Penang Island from afar. Taken from the ferry.

Penang has been my frequent holiday destination for many years. Almost all the time, I would go there by car. However, there is one mode of transportation I've been hoping to try since childhood: trains. As I love trains, I was hoping that I would go to Penang by train, but have not done so, until now.

And so, back in 23rd October, both me and my mother went for a five-day holiday at Penang Island, where we took the ETS (Electric Train Service) by KTMB to our holiday destination. This is my first ever train ride to Penang, and also the first ETS ride for both of us.

In this month's blog post, I'm going to show how I made my own Apfelschorle, a simple German soft drink consists of apple juice and carbonated mineral water.

Random Rant: Referrer Spam

Referrer Spam. This is one of the main reasons, apart from writer's block, why I sometimes set my blog to Private. While I am okay with the increasing number of page views from visitors, I am highly annoyed by referrer spam. What's worse, some of these links are porn sites!

Normally I would ignore it, but there are times I would investigate the origins of the said traffic, which would show rather alarming results.

Recently, I discovered unusual traffic and also discovered a web link where the traffic originated from. So, I made a search on Google Search and found out that it was a pornographic website, much to my surprise.

I looked up on Google Search again about this, and found out what was called a 'Ghost Referrer Spam' (click here). Although the article is describing Google Analytics which I didn't use, it was a rather surprising discovery for me.

As I didn't use Google Analytics, the best solution for me right now is to ignore it.

KEWPIE Goma-ae (Spinach with Kewpie Roasted Sesame Dressing)

In this new blog post, I'm going to show how to make Spinach Goma-ae (also spelled 'Gomaae' or 'Gomae'), a Japanese vegetable dish with sesame dressing. However, the difference between the original recipe and mine is the simplicity and improvisation of it.
