Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed NPC Facts, Discovered by RemainUnknown522 (Updated: 05/12/2019, 1117 Hrs)

Ever since I bought the PS3 game Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed, I am beginning to enjoy it, as it accurately depicts Akihabara, the place in Japan I'm dying to go to (I'm an Anime Otaku, what do you expect?). However, there are some gameplay elements that tend to frustrate me; for example, opponents that can evade my attacks way too easily, even on Easy mode!

Anyway, gameplay stuff aside. What I'm writing now is a number of NPC facts I discovered when playing this game, and below are some of them. Should if other players have discovered these much earlier than I am, I shall delete this post:

NON-SYNTHISER FEMALES

Non-Synthiser female characters (examples include: Artliens, AKW and NMW idols) tend to retaliate after you strip or destroyed their clothes by either repeatedly hitting the player character with their fists, or giving the notorious Armor-Piercing Bitch Slap; the latter which I loathe the most, as I cannot hit them back! (If the game allows me to do so, I'd be so glad, as I strongly loathe bitch slaps!)

However, there is another additional fact about this.

  • The non-Synthiser females also do these to NPCs that managed to strip them, whether it's the player character's partner (Shizuku, Rin, Tohko, Shion, Nana, Kati), or other NPCs fighting her, even the police. I have seen a situation in the game, after the police managed to destroy clothing worn by a non-Synthiser female, she will try to slap the police as they walk away. (Thankfully, she missed!)

DONATION COLLECTORS

These female NPCs are always seen at Electric Town Plaza and Yodobashi Camera areas, approaching any character within their proximity and ask for donations. They can appear either as a young girl wearing a straw hat, or a middle-aged lady wearing a black sun visor (their shirts and skirts are essentially the same). Among the facts I discovered about them are:
  • If you run towards them and push them too much (the minimum is 5 times), they will get angry (a red vein pop symbol will appear above their heads) and fight you. However, if you push them right after they received a donation from an NPC, they would just run away and leave the area. You can also make them leave the area by donating ¥1,000,000; Here, not only you can get a new nickname 'Peacekeeper', you will also be treated to a small cutscene, showing the donation collector receiving a call from 'the Order', before leaving the area.
  • (UPDATE) If the police managed to arrest them during a fight, they will briefly show a surrender motion; However, unlike other NPCs who permanently surrender to the police, the Donation Collectors would return back to their fighting stance and remain like that the whole time, despite actually being arrested! You can actually enter and exit Battle Mode as freely as you want when this happens. This situation is possible if the Donation Collectors entered Battle Mode from being pushed too much; If you used the Circle button to provoke them into fighting, they would surrender permanently to the police when arrested.

JOHN DOE SYNTHISERS

These male Synthisers, dressed similarly to their non-Synthiser counterparts that appear in 'Silent Mode' side mission, have two types. The first one would always appear at Radio Kaikan area, especially near the Akihabara station entrance or NewNeys shop. This particular guy would approach the player character and asking for money, claiming that he had lost all his money at a pachinko parlour. To simplify things, I call this guy 'Pachinko John Doe'.

The second one is what I would call 'Hunter John Doe', would randomly appear in some areas of the game after you defeated a large number of Synthisers. Most of the time, they can appear as early as before the start of Akiba Cosplay Fest chapter, or just before you progress to the game's final chapter, and these guys are hunting you. Once they saw you within close proximity, they would approach and say the two following lines,

If you encountered them in earlier chapters of the game:
"I've found him! (Your chosen nickname), the Synthiser Hunter!"

If you encountered them in later chapters, especially before the game's final chapter:
"(Your chosen nickname)... the Synthiser Hunter! Don't let him escape!"

Once that happened, he will fight you.

Below are the facts I discovered about these two John Doe Synthisers:
  • Pachinko John Doe would approach you from afar, as far as he can see you; Hunter John Doe would only approach you when he sees you in close proximity.
  • You can choose to either fight or give Pachinko John Doe ¥1000 when he approaches you and ask for money; Hunter John Doe will always fight you instead.
  • Pachinko John Doe appears at Radio Kaikan area only; Hunter John Doe appears in other areas of the game. However, it is possible for these two characters to simultaneously appear at Radio Kaikan area, but the most obvious difference is on how they approach you when they see you.
  • Pachinko John Doe will always stay in Radio Kaikan and will not leave the area; Hunter John Doe walks normally like other NPCs would and leave the area if you choose to avoid them.
  • (UPDATE) If you run and pushed a Pachinko John Doe when he is not looking at you, he will chase you and demand for an apology once he got to you. Depending on your choice of dialogue options, he would demand either ¥5000, or worse, ¥100,000 from you. If you provoked him into fighting by using the Circle button, there will be a 2-second delay before he enters Battle Mode.

In one rare case, a Hunter John Doe can appear MUCH earlier, just after you finished 'Go To The Battle Arena' mission. Based on my gameplay, I defeated about two Synthisers at Junk Street after I completed the said mission at the Battle Arena and made my way to UD+, only to encounter one Hunter John Doe. Here, the Hunter John Doe said the following line before fighting:

"It's...the reject!"

Finally, I also discovered that it is possible to avoid getting into a fight with Hunter John Doe by running away from him when he sees you, if you're fast enough not to let him chase you. So far, this situation happened thrice at Side Streets area; the Hunter John Doe saw me at Kotobukiya shop, so I just run away and turn right towards Star Kebab shop, and he didn't chase me at all.

THE POLICE

These NPCs are always seen patrolling in most areas in the game (except Side Streets, Junk Street, Electric Town Exit and Showa Street Exit), and they would try to quickly arrest anyone fighting in the area they are patrolling. The police are one of the more difficult NPCs to deal with, as not only they can arrest you quickly, they also have a high rate of attacking speed and defence, even on Easy Mode. They are armed with Night Sticks and dressed in the usual Japanese police uniforms (light blue shirt and midnight blue trousers/long skirt), some are even seen wearing either a police hat or a helmet. Unlike other NPCs, they give you the highest experience (EXP) points when you successfully defeated them.

The only thing that gives away their presence during a fight is a sound of a police whistle which announces their presence, then followed by them joining in the fight, taking out their Night Sticks. If they managed to strip at least one clothing article (if the character they are targeting is not wearing any headgear), they would make an arrest immediately; They would also arrest you very quickly if you defeated Synthisers via Chain Strip and leaving only you and them in the fight.

What's worse, some of the police NPCs you encounter are actually Synthisers.

Below are the other facts I discovered about the police in the game:

  • Other than arresting you for fighting, the police in the game can also arrest you immediately, without entering Battle Mode, for going bottomless (not wearing pants/skirts). However, they would not react if you choose to go topless (not wearing any shirt), as long as your player character is wearing bottom clothing. The King's Set (obviously based on The Emperor's New Clothes) allow players to make their player character or partner to roam around Akihabara in their underwear without getting caught by the police; But honestly, I would not recommend doing it.
  • Equip either 'Zombie Stalker' or 'Walk With Your Head Down' walking style and see how a policeman and a policewoman react when they saw your player character being bottomless (do not use King's Pants) running away from them: If a policewoman saw you, she would ignore you if you ran further away from her. However, if a policeman saw you, he would go after you and arrest you, and running far away from him is totally useless. The only way to avoid getting caught at this moment is to leave the area and go to a different area.
  • Possibly a glitch found in the game; If you managed to defeat a Synthiser while the police noticed (make sure that the police saw the SYNTHISER, NOT YOU) and announced their presence, but NOT joining in the fight (the police would blow a whistle, but did not manage to take out their Night Stick in time to join in the fight), they would just stand still and do nothing, and would remain there the whole time with no reaction. If you also choose to fight a Synthiser in front of the 'frozen' police, they would not react at all; and if you or other NPC hit them during a fight, they would remain on the ground and not stand back up.

And that's all there is to write.
