1. Everytime during Ramadan and nearing Hari Raya Aidilfitri, there will always be loud and sometimes annoying blast from people playing with firecrackers.
2. Match crackers (mercun mancis) and football firecrackers (mercun bola) in particular; What do these two have in common?
3. Two things: ANNOYINGLY LOUD and RUDE.
4. The 'annoyingly loud' part is obvious, but what about the 'rude' part? It is because, some people use it to disturb others, or as a way to say 'THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR MESSING WITH ME!'
5. I once experienced this eleven years ago, when someone threw a match cracker at my house. Apparently, it was because of a sensitive issue (can't write it here) that caused the aforementioned incident.
6. Since that incident, everytime I hear the loud cracking of the match crackers, I always had this feeling of confronting those people and give them a total verbal lashing, or worse (don't ask me what it is!).
7. Then there's the football firecracker (mercun bola), and based on my observation, it makes a really loud blast, powerful enough to be felt inside your body!
8. Here in Malaysia, the 'mercun bola' are quite notorious for not only causing havoc due to its annoyingly loud blast, but also, injuries to the person using it.
9. Just watch the news and you'll know what I mean; the most recent firecracker-related injuries here was caused by a 'mercun bola'.
10. More worryingly, I even read in a newspaper about a boy who got injured from experimenting with them. Interestingly, the news article did somehow popularise the term 'MacGyvering' (read here, in Malay language).
11. Apparently, based on what I've read in the news that is, it was because of some people here who enjoys improvising those firecrackers to dangerous consequences is one of the main reasons why the firecracker ban was imposed.
12. Oddly enough, these firecrackers eventually ended up being sold here, despite the ban imposed.
