COSMART 2014 + COSPLAY PROJECT TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED

As my search for cosplay costumes continue, I decided to go to CosMart 2014, held at e@Curve, Mutiara Damansara on 1st November. Hosted by the Comic Fiesta commitee, it was actually a flea market selling cosplay-related items. Not only that, one can also buy Comic Fiesta 2014 Early Bird tickets from 'coffytiam' booth, and these tickets are for both days of Comic Fiesta.

After having my breakfast at IKEA, I immediately set out to the building where CosMart was held. However, I was 30 minutes early, as I was thinking that I might have to wait in a long queue like what happened at Comic Fiesta 2013. How wrong I was.

Upon arrival at the destination, I can see that CosMart is actually different than what I first thought of, and the only queue here is where the visitors are queueing up to either buy the Early Bird tickets or registering a booth for the Comic Fiesta event. CosMart was scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m., and before it started, I decided to take photos of the available booths.

Merchandise booths. The rightmost booth here, owned by COSPLAYER Sungei Wang, sells merchandise and also cosplay costumes.

This section is also set up by VBG Entertainment.

Just seven minutes after that, I decided to queue up to buy the tickets. After what I had experienced last year at Comic Fiesta 2013, I finally decided that I need to buy the Early Bird tickets, so that I no longer have to wait in a VERY long queue like last year.

After 23 minutes of waiting, I finally bought the tickets; And that's when I decided to take a look around the event, taking photos of the cosplay item booths set up by participating sellers, and also an information board showing the behind-the-scenes photography contest participant's entries.

As expected, a number of cosplayers showed up there. However, I took less photos compared to the number of photos I took at the Animax Carnival 2014 and Comic Fiesta 2013. Why? It's because I happened to carry an Animax denim bag along with me, which I intended to use it to keep cosplay items I was planning to buy on that day, although I did not buy any of them, much to my disappointment.

Anyway, the cosplayers I remembered seeing at the event are:

COSPLAY PROJECT: TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED

Oh, I almost forgot: as mentioned above and in the blog post title, my current cosplay project has to be temporarily suspended. Why am I saying this? It's because of my failed objective at CosMart: buying Shingeki no Kyojin-related cosplay items.

While I was at CosMart, I searched every available booths, hoping that I might find either the boots, belt harness or waist sash. Unfortunately, I can't find any of them, and I have searched the booths five times and failed. The only item available there was the jacket, but the seller only has size M available.

Also nearby is a shop called Sun Comic, which specialises in selling Manga and Anime-related stuff, including cosplay costumes. I stepped inside to look for the jacket and found three of them; one M, one XXL and one XXXL. I also noticed a complete Mikasa Ackerman cosplay costume at the shop. When I asked the staff about the belt harness and boots, the staff responded that the belt harness is not sold separately and they don't sell the boots.

After my failed objective at CosMart, I set off to Kuala Lumpur two days after that (3rd November) in order to find what I've been looking for. I went to Sungei Wang Plaza and searched almost every floor to find them. Once again, I found that same jacket, with that same three available sizes, sold at Sun Comic, albeit at Sungei Wang Plaza branch. It was here that my intuition tells me to try on that jacket, since I didn't try it back in Sun Comic e@Curve branch.

As I have a large frame, I normally wear XL-sized shirts. However, since XL size is not available, I tried on the XXL and XXXL-sized jackets, hoping that it may fit. And guess what? The jackets does not fit at all, even for the XXXL-size, which I find it very, very strange. It was quite tight, where I have trouble wearing AND removing it, and I also have trouble moving my arms when wearing it. Turns out, according to the staff there, the jacket uses a different sizing compared to what I'm used to. Another disappointment for me...

After leaving Sun Comic, I went to the cosplay shop called 'cosplayer,' located on the 6th floor. I asked the staff there about ordering the costumes at the shop, where the staff responds that I can only order the items via their Facebook page while giving me a business card.

Remember what I said earlier about searching every floor in Sungei Wang Plaza? I was also searching for the boots. Unfortunately, I can't find them there, and all the boots I've seen there are for women only, where some of these boots have stiletto heels. I've also tried finding them at Berjaya Times Square, and failed. It was here that I finally decided to leave Berjaya Times Square and go back home. And that's the end of it.

RemainUnknown522 Out.
