Comic Fiesta 2023, 23rd - 24th December 2023

Before I begin, I would like to wish whoever visiting and reading this blog post a Happy New Year; And to those rude bastards who enjoy harassing and mocking 'weebs' with your retarded memes and endless disparaging remarks and are also stalking my blog just to make fun of me, GO FUCK YOURSELF.

Alright, enough of my rant and profanity.

Anyway, it's that time again. In this blog post, it's about my visit to Comic Fiesta 2023. As usual, it's a two-day visit just like in most of my previous posts. Although it has been a week since the event, I decided to set this post to be published on New Year's day, since I need more time to edit and finalise the post properly.

DAY ONE

Just like last year, I left home at about 6:30 a.m. Taking the earliest Komuter train at 7:02 a.m. to KL Sentral, I arrived at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre at 8:20 a.m. Once there, as expected, there is a long queue. On this year, there are two entrances: One leads to the exhibitor booths on Ground Floor, the other leads to Hall 6, located on 1st Floor.

On Day One, I chose the second entrance, which leads to Hall 6 on 1st Floor. Once there, I had the chance to sit down in an air-conditioned hall much earlier than usual; But before reaching that said floor, there is a checkpoint where visitors with valid tickets must scan the QR code located on the back of the ticket before entering the halls. Both the 1st Floor and Ground Floor entrances have them.

Inside Hall 6, on Level 1. Nearby (not visible from here) is the cafeteria.

And speaking of tickets, this year's Comic Fiesta brought back the one-day tickets, except that one needs to buy at official sellers (example: Oh! Gatcha shop) before the day of the event. Not only that, there are also Afternoon passes, which only allow visitors to enter at 2:30 p.m, and are only available for purchase online at Ticket2U.

ENTERING THE EXHIBITION HALLS

Once the clock struck 9:30 a.m, the Comic Fiesta staff allowed visitors to enter Hall 7, located on Level 3. Here, I started taking photos of the Art Market and Cosplay booth. However, since I entered the exhibition hall from the second entrance, I didn't get the guide book. And so, after roaming around the 3rd Floor, I went down to the Ground Floor entrance to get the guide book.

Making my way to Hall 7 at 3rd Floor, where the Art Market and Cosplay Booths are located.

At Gound Floor, there are the usual exhibitor booths. I didn't buy anything on Day One there, at the suggestion from my mother.

OPENING CEREMONY

On this year, I managed to watch the opening ceremony, which was held at Plenary Hall. In fact, this year's Comic Fiesta has two stages. The first one, located at 1st Floor Plenary Hall, called 'Coffy;' The other, located at 3rd Floor Conference Hall, called 'Tea.' I even recorded a 16-minute long video of the opening ceremony, too.

After the opening ceremony, I left the Plenary Hall to take photos, as usual. Unfortunately, I am in pretty bad shape on Day One, due to the lack of sleep the night before. Not only that, I took few photos of cosplayers on Day One.

Once finished, I went home at about 12:30 p.m.

These cosplayers are dressed as characters from Neon Genesis Evangelion. From left to right: Rei Ayanami, Shinji Ikari, Asuka Langley Soryu, and Makinami Mari Illustrious.

DAY TWO

On Day Two, I queued up at the first entrance, which leads to the exhibitors located on Ground Floor. On that day too, I dressed up as Conny Springer from Shingeki no Kyojin. Although I have other cosplans (cosplay plans), I am currently stuck on Conny Springer cosplay for now.

On this year, there's the usual Stamp Rally, where visitors who completed it would get a chance to win a lucky draw prize. There's even a Comic Fiesta museum, where it displayed Comic Fiesta's 20-year history. As usual, I roamed around the event halls, taking photos and even bought something there (it was a birthday present for my niece, actually).

After all that, I went home at about 1:00 p.m.

After completing the Stamp Rally, I tried the lucky draw, where I won an enamel pin.

Below are select photos of the cosplayers I took on Day Two. Nowadays, I am a bit shy in asking for permission to take photos, plus the endless photobombing by visitors, and my slightly worsening health conditions, thanks to lack of sleep, and some.

So many Anyas; And they're crossplayers...!

CONCLUSION

I had my fun at this year's Comic Fiesta, even though there are some things I missed out there. Firstly, there is La Petite Fox maid cafe, but I didn't go there. There are also live stage performances by artists, which I also missed out. Not only that, I am honestly starting to feel my age now.

Maybe, if I had the chance, I might book a hotel stay there the next time Comic Fiesta would be held.

What made me happy is that, on Day Two, there are at least two people who did the Shingeki no Kyojin salute when they noticed me. And so, I responded in kind, doing the said salute as well.

Not only that, I did attract the attention of some Komuter passengers while on my way home...

Finally, here's the ultimate question: Does it smell?

Well, if you go to ANY PLACE WITH HUGE CROWDS, there will always be someone who reeks of body odour, and you'll also end up sweating and smelling bad too. And in case anyone was wondering, I always bathe and make sure that I always smell good before leaving my house. Not only that, I also wore a face mask there, due to the fact that COVID-19 cases are on the rise.

Besides, no matter how good your hygiene is, it's normal for anyone to sweat and smell bad after going to crowded places (me included), so the joke and stereotype about 'weebs' having poor hygiene is GETTING OLD and it's NOT FUNNY ANYMORE.
